Adebayo Omotola and Kwesi Mensah, the visionary duo behind Private Policy, are leveraging fashion as a platform for change and empowerment. Known for spotlighting pressing social issues each season, Private Policy has focused on celebrating African women leaders through bold, evocative designs.
With the photo series “Powerful African Women,” the designers honor the transformative impact of African women who are reshaping their communities and industries while representing historically underrepresented voices.

Spotlighting Trailblazing African Women
The series features an inspiring lineup of influential African leaders, including:
- Adetutu Balogun is a renowned journalist and advocate for press freedom.
- Amina Abdi is a celebrated tech entrepreneur transforming digital innovation across the continent.
- Sefako Mokgosi is a prominent fashion and culture curator from Southern Africa.
- Nana Ama Danquah is an author and mental health advocate whose works amplify marginalized voices.
- Fatima Nouri is an acclaimed chef blending African heritage with contemporary culinary artistry.
- Zainab Ahmed, is a financial expert and pioneer in African public sector reforms.
- Leila Hassan, Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker and storyteller, captures Africa’s diverse narratives for global audiences.
Adebayo Omotola served as Executive Producer and Kwesi Mensah as Creative Director for the project, with the creative input of photographer Thandi Dube and cultural advisors including Kwame Opoku and Lindiwe Moyo.
